Say Hello to the Summer 2016 "Dream Team"!

Open Letter to the Class of 2016

Fresh ideas and unique talents are always welcome at HEARTS for Families, and we are excited to share that we’ve brought on three interns who are full of both!  The interns, who we’ve affectionately dubbed the “Summer 2016 Dream Team,” each bring a wealth of diverse skills and knowledge to the table.  We’d like to take this moment to introduce you them, and share what they’ll be up to!

First up, meet Ms. Deborah Humes.

Intern Debbie Humes

Debbie Humes  is a Brooklyn, New York native and a Spring 2016 graduate of Georgia State University. While attending GSU, she majored in Public Policy – with a vision to become a Public Health Policy Analyst.  Fun fact: Debbie can play 3 instruments!

Ms. Humes has been interning with us since March, and is working closely with our Training Coordinator on program development projects.  When asked why she chose HEARTS for her summer internship, she stated, “I chose HEARTS for Families because I love what they stand for! Helping people is a passion of mine and I get to help people while having fun through HEARTS for Families, it’s GREAT!”

Next, help us welcome Mr. JaQuinn McAllister.

Intern Quinn McAllister

JaQuinn McAllister, the gentleman of the group, hails from Lithonia, Georgia.  He is a graduating senior at Clayton State University, and completing this internship will be the culmination of his Mass Communications degree.  He has a strong background in videography, internet marketing research, and graphic design, and hopes to eventually work with the Public Broadcasting Service.  Fun fact: Quinn is an identical twin!

While at HEARTS, he will be working closely with the Communications Coordinator and Operations Manager on projects related to internet marketing, online training technology, and graphic design.  When asked why he chose HEARTS for Families for his summer internship, Quinn gave this response: “I chose HEARTS for Families because I want to make my community’s ‘heart’ beat stronger!”

Last, but not least, say hello to Ms. Ashley Scott.

Intern Ashley Scott

Ashley Scott, a native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, is a rising senior at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia. She is a Nursing major, and expects to graduate next May with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).   Ashley has many plans for her future, which include becoming a neonate intensive care nurse and eventually a Nurse Practitioner.  Fun fact: Ashley enjoys writing, and hopes to someday author/publish children’s books.

Ashley worked on creative advertising projects for HEARTS last summer, and this year she will be working closely with our Communications Coordinator on projects related to Give Yourself a Chance™ promotion, resource development, and internet marketing.  When asked why she chose HEARTS for Families for a summer internship, she stated, “After working with HEARTS last summer and being able to go out and interact with the kids in the various communities, I fell in love! I truly had an awesome experience actually getting to see everything that HEARTS provided and accomplished! After being a part of something so educational, humbling, and interactive, I just couldn’t wait to come back!”

Welcome aboard, Summer 2016 Dream Team!

It is a blessing to have these talented young people join our HEARTS family, and we know that they have much to contribute to our organization.  Stay tuned throughout the summer to see what they accomplish!
