Program Validation
Nurturing Parenting Programs® (NPP) are evidence-based and continue to be researched for effectiveness. In 1979 Dr. Stephen Bavolek conducted his initial research and found five basic tenets of people who were abusive or neglectful toward children. He created a measurement tool to assist in identifying these attitudes and then created the Nurturing Parenting Programs to specifically address the tendencies.

Since the original validation in 1983 of the first Nurturing Program funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), 23 additional field-based research studies have been conducted over the past 25 years. Ratings assigned to the research supporting the Nurturing Program’s effectiveness refer to the Nurturing Program as “promising.”
