Career Days at LK Moss Middle School in Buena Vista
On May 11-13, 2015 Marion County Sheriff Derrell Neal hosted Career Days at L.K. Moss Middle School. The Career Days’ presentations were given by different local agencies and included in-depth discussions about early onset of alcohol, drugs, school bullying, summer vacation and family violence.
Every year after school is out for summer vacation, the sheriff’s office responds to a community concern involving the youth. In moving forward, the sheriff plans to optimize patrol and security across the county.
The Sheriff also highlighted recent successes in implementing the Alcohol Prevention Project in Marion County by Mr. Bennie Oates, CIS of HEARTS. Project success can be seen in marked improvements in sobriety road checks by a decrease in arrests, family violence crimes, courtroom appearances and community participation in education awareness workshops sponsored by HEARTS.
Join us: The next Marion County STEP-Up Workgroup meeting is June 9, 2015 @ 11: a.m. at the Josh Gibson Center.
