Men and Women’s Day Celebration in Region 6

Men and Women’s Day Celebration in Region 6

On Saturday September 6, 2014, HEARTS for Families’ Bennie Oates partnered with Hall’s Chapel CME and their Pastor, Andre Mathis, to celebrate Men and Women’s Day workshops.

Pastor Andre Mathis, men, women and children at Hall’s Chapel CME were very excited about Mr. Oates’ participation in their Men and Women’s Day celebration. After being introduced by a member, Mr. Oates preached a powerful message – Freedom, Healing and Blessing. He acknowledged the importance of the freedom to have the opportunity to get an education, to live in the community of your choice and to have the choice to raise your children in a loving and safe community.

“Healing,” he said, “is being able to forgive yourself for your past. You cannot heal if you are not willing to forgive.”

“Blessings come in small packages not large bundles,” shared Mr. Oates. In his closing message, he shared that if the community could come together and sponsor just one boy or girl with a blessing then they would be as one.

Rev. Andre Mathis followed Mr. Oates’s speech with a thank you as Steward, Chairperson Ms. Glades Rushin presented Mr. Oates with a love token for his service in the community.
