Life’s Adventures: Out There in the Far Off, or Closer to Home?

During our stages of ‘growing up’, we have many different ideas of what the word ‘Adventure’ means. When we were children, it could be the idea of building a fort in the woods with our friends or making a swing off a tree branch to take down any ‘enemies’ that might approach our beloved sanctuary of our own kingdom of protection, or maybe even solitude. It could even be as simple as conquering the thrill of riding down the highest hill in your neighborhood laying down on a skateboard reaching speeds that were unheard of by anyone you knew! Of course, by completing that amazing accomplishment, you would HAVE to go back to your fort in the woods and celebrate with your friends! A round of juice boxes on the house!

Then comes the time when we reach older stages in our lives. Our adventures become more in depth, more costly, and require more effort. Some people keep their childhood friends who helped them build that fort in the woods, but most of us make new friendships along the way, which is an adventure all in itself. The people who enter our lives may have a high impact on our choices. It’s our decision if we allow them to play that part in our lives. Their influence could sway us in different directions. Those directions could stretch us outside of our known comfort zone and allow us to experience things we never thought we could, possibly in a fantastic way! Or they could also be a way of guiding us in a way that opens us up to seeing how other people see who we truly are, maybe someone we never imagined we could be.
