The Fight Against Insecurities

Everyone has them in one form or another. We wish we didn’t, we try to hide them or mask them, so they don’t show to those around us. We even try to overcompensate to make them less noticeable, but we’re not fooling anyone. Insecurities … we all have them. We are guilty of trying to cover them up, and unfortunately, the only cure for them is learning to problem-solve and continuously work different methods to overcome them. The first step to ‘get over them’ is accepting that we have them, then have the desire to learn how to move past them, then continuing to move forward one day or circumstance at a time.

This is no easy task as our insecurities can affect our thought process as well as the way we act and treat others. It could be based about how we think others will approve or disapprove of a physical trait such as a bad scar or our weight that often can be disguised with clothing. It could be about financial insecurities, maybe the fact that we don’t make as much money as we would like at a certain stage in our life, or that our paycheck is uncertain from a contract coming to an end. We don’t know where the next contract will start and if we would continue to at least make the same amount of money. Regardless of where our insecurities are from, it’s important to remember that those feelings cause a level of fear within ourselves. We are not created with that sense of fear. The only two fears we have when we are born is fear of loud noises and the fear of falling. Other fears are something we have learned in our life experiences. We are instructed in the Bible to not fear 365 times, and yet, we still fear what other people think of us and how they see us…
