The Parental Music Influence
Do you have a certain song that whenever you listen to it, it takes you back to a certain time of year, makes you feel like you are with the people you love, and immediately puts a smile on your face? I hope everyone has at least one of those songs that can trigger a memory and take you back to a wonderful place in time. This is one of the great things about the music.
I remember when it was Spring Cleaning time at our house growing up. My parents would open up all the windows, turn on the attic fan, and then turn on “The Eagles” or “Bob Seger & The Silver Bullets” and we would jam out and sing while we were cleaning. It may have been just a little something, but the music added so much more to the experience. It made it a valuable memory of my childhood. I still remember those times so vividly to this day even though I was probably 7 or 8 years old at the time.
As children, we don’t have too much to say about what we listen to in the car with our parents, at least we used to not have much of a choice. This was, of course, before IPODS, cell phones and streaming services. We were raised on whatever mom and dad wanted to listen to and that was it. Luckily for us, most of our parents had some great taste in music and taught us well. We were able….
